Qualified from University of Bristol in 1993, FDS with Royal College of Surgeon of Edinburgh
Following the usual four and a half years of training as undergraduate at Bristol University Dental School Simon graduated in 1993.
He then went onto undertake further post-graduate training over the subsequent four years encompassing recognised training posts in general professional training in Southport and Liverpool Dental Hospital. Further training in Oral Surgery was gained through posts within the specialty of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, notably at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, Russells Hall Hospital and Wolverhampton New Cross Hospital. Simon obtained his Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of surgeons of Edinburgh in 1998. He has been continuously registered on the UK General Dental Council specialist list for Oral Surgery since 2002. Simon says his work is overwhelmingly chair-side clinical activity. Alongside working within the Ascent team Simon also has current appointments with the Birmingham Dental Hospital and the University of Birmingham Dental School. He is regularly involved in the clinical supervision of both undergraduate dental students and postgraduate dentists in training. Simon is a member of the core examiners for the Licence in Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. His routine practice at Ascent Dental Care includes a wide spectrum of Oral surgery undertaken with Local Anaesthetic and Intravenous Sedation. Simon also has a special interest in the management of Temporo-mandibular dysfunction, working alongside colleagues in Maxillo-facial surgery often employing Botulinum toxin. Simon accepts referrals from other local Dentists for both oral surgery.

Very impressed with Gursh and his team with regard to orthodontic treatment. Very attentive, efficient and friendly service, making the whole process really quick and easy. Appointments for wire changes are so fast, meaning I’m in and out in minutes. Can’t recommend them highly enough.
The care I received was exemplary from my dentist Mo he made me feel completely relaxed and exxplained the procedure every step of the way I would most definitely use Dorridge again for any root canal work.
I have been visiting Ascent Dental for a year now as I required an implant to one of my front teeth. I have been treated by Dr Faresh Desai and I have found him to be very skilled technically and someone who has extremely high standards with regard to his treatment and the appearance of the finnished product. I would recommend him and his team, who are all very friendly and efficient. Before choosing Ascent Dental I explored a number of other dentist who all came up short with regard to my expectations, but Faresh has met all of them and as such I have now had a second implant.
Dr Gursh and the team are first class. Made to feel very comfortable during my treatment. Cannot recommend then highly enough.
I recently went to Ascent Dental Care for a scheduled cleaning and mentioned I had chipped a tooth and wanted some other work done. Doctor Coughlin arranged for my tooth to be repaired and for my other work to be done immediately after my cleaning, despite the practice being busy at the time.
I had my two front crowns taken out and replaced with implants and a further crown fitted by Faresh and have nothing but praise for the whole team. The Surgery is welcoming and peaceful and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Faresh is not only extremely skilled in the mechanical and surgical sides of dentistry, he also has an excellent chair-side manner and makes you relaxed and confident. The process was long and at times painful but the treatment and support was first rate and the result was worth it. I am a very satisfied and happily smiling customer!! Thank you Ascent Dental

Started going to ascent dental care last March 2021 with the fear of having any dental work, I have always been so self conscious of my teeth from young but just lost confidence in any dentist that saw me.
Safe to say I met Jas who has filled me with confidence and put me at ease, knowing what I wanted to achieve set me up with the perfect plan, I quit smoking to achieve healthier teeth with the advice from jas and I am now towards the end of the treatment, and am so pleased with the end results!! the staff are so welcoming and the professionalism and work within is by far worth any price on the treatment you receive!

This has been a very positive experience. I didn’t have an appreciation of what can be done with orthodontics these days so the result has been very impressive . I was very careful in choosing who to go to and I am very happy my research paid off. Gursh is very highly skilled, friendly and explains things clearly , as are the rest of the team there. I have just finished my treatment with Ascent Dental after 6 months of having Lingual braces to adjust crowding in my upper teeth.
