Save Your Infected Teeth With Endodontics

Bacteria is able to make its way to the pulp through tooth decay (causing cavities), trauma or fractures.

The care I received was exemplary from my dentist Mo he made me feel completely relaxed and exxplained the procedure every step of the way I would most definitely use Dorridge again for any root canal work.

How Can I Prevent Having a Root Canal?

By visiting your dentist for regular checks ups they will be able to monitor your oral health and identify if there are any problems. If your dentist finds any cavities, it is recommended to have a filling (white fillings available), as this will prevent the bacteria from going any further and infecting the pulp.

If you have cavities and you haven’t started to feel pain, it is also recommended to not leave it as when you do start to feel pain/sensitivity, it is generally a sign that the bacteria has progressed closer to the tooth’s nerve.

Currently undergoing Invisalign treatment at Ascent Dental in Solihull. My partner has also had root canal and various other treatments and we can’t praise the team highly enough! Friendly, professional and highly skilled, I actually look forward to visiting the dentist which is something I never thought I would say as I used to have a real fear of the dentist chair! The staff are amazing from the minute you walk through the door and I am extremely happy I found Ascent Dental. Thank you!

Should I Have My Tooth Extracted or a Root Canal?

This will depend how severe the infection is, but extractions are always our last resort because your natural teeth are very important and no replacement (even though they are very effective with modern dentistry), will be as good as a natural tooth.

What’s the Procedure?

The dentist will completely remove the bacteria and the roots from the tooth. They will then use a solid filling material to completely fill the pulp chamber which will prevent any further complications in the future.

Comfortable and Pain-Free

Root canal treatment has a reputation as one of the least comfortable dental treatments. But things have changed.

How Long Do Root Canals Take?

This will be very much case dependant as there are a few factors that can determine the complexity of the case:

  1. Location of tooth
  2. Multiple teeth being treated (case dependent, if in same quadrant etc)
  3. How many roots in affected teeth
  4. Curved roots

At the free consultation our dentist will be able to give you an idea on how long your case should take to complete.

Is the Treatment Painful?

The area being treated will be numbed before the treatment begins. But because we will be treating the nerve of the tooth, there can be some slight discomfort during treatment. Our dentists will ensure they go at a slow pace, making the treatment as comfortable and pain free as possible.

We also offer IV sedation which will make the whole treatment very hazy and unmemorable (popular with very nervous patients).
