Fillings are amongst one of the most common dental procedures carried out. If you have reached adulthood or beyond without needing a filling, then you have done very well. As it is perceived that children become unhealthier and standards of diets are slipping, more children and getting tooth decay at a younger age and we are seeing a greater need in the amount of young people needing fillings.
When it comes to dentistry this is a very controversial topic that has drawn a lot of attention from the media in the past. The reason why this is controversial is because of what is contained in the old amalgam fillings that have been commonly placed in the past. They are not very commonly used any more, as the preferred option tends to be white fillings.
