Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that has been designed to straighten your teeth discreetly. The system consists of a series of aligners that are worn in sequence, one after the other, until your teeth are straightened. Invisalign uses software to calculate the end result before you have even begun, and from the expected finished result it works out how many number of aligners are needed to straighten your teeth.
Invisalign are a removable aligner system so can be taken out for drinking, eating and also social occasions. It is however recommended that the aligners are worn for the majority of the day, as the longer they are left out, the longer it will take to correct your teeth.
The aligners themselves are very similar to gum shields – the main difference being the material they are made out of and also the fact that they are clear and discrete when being worn.
Invisalign is very much a discrete option when it comes to straightening teeth. It has been designed for patients who want to correct their teeth but don’t want a mouth full of metal. With aligner systems they do however come with some restrictions, as they are not as fast as straightening teeth other systems. Unfortunately, the arch wire used in fixed braces can offer more effective and efficient straightening than their removable counterparts, meaning less time in treatment. We do however offer fixed and discrete options (such as lingual braces and 6 month smiles).
Because there are many different scenarios that can occur with your teeth, there is no one size fits all treatment. We offer an extensive range of orthodontic systems that allows us to treat a wide range of patient needs. If you would like to find out more information and to see what options are suitable for you, please do not hesitate to call us and book your free consultation today.
