Are you considering having a brace fitted to correct problems with your smile? If you want straight teeth, then the only thing holding you back may be the long-term wait for results. The conventional treatment for misaligned teeth will take between 2-3 years to correctly position teeth which have grown out of alignment, and may take longer if there are several teeth which need correcting. Two or three years with a lump of metal in your mouth might seem a long time for an adult to have to wear braces, and fortunately there are some other options which could shorten the time it takes to make your teeth straighter.
If you have suffered from a fear of the dentist for a long time, then you may have avoided essential treatment for your teeth. You may have come to the point where dental work is essential, be at the risk of losing all of your teeth if you don’t have some treatment now, or have just decided that being scared of the dentist is a problem you can resolve. Getting rid of your nerves before a dentists’ visit is not always easy, but there are a few things that you can do to make sure that your appointment goes well.
From November 1st to 30th is Mouth Cancer Action Month. Mouth cancer Action are a charity that are trying to raise awareness for mouth cancer, with early detection and prevention which can help save thousands of lives!
It has been estimated that up to a half of young adults and adults have poorly aligned teeth. Our dental clinic often treats people in their more mature years, and there is no upper-age limit. If you still have teeth which are misaligned, then you can have orthodontic treatment to solve the problem. Although people used to believe that it was important to have your teeth straightened when you were young, there is no reason why you cannot wear braces even when you are no longer a teenager.
Braces are often used on teenagers and adults to help them straighten teeth which have not grown in the right position. Often what has happened is that teeth have not had enough room to grow, and so have grown at an angle. When you wear braces, you expect to be able to remove them without problems, and to have nice, straight, white teeth. We only take braces off once we are 100% happy with the results and so are the patient. Once the braces are finally debonded, we will then commence teeth whitening and recontouring to truly perfect your new smile.
