How Many Veneers Do I Need?

Dental veneers are very much a cosmetic treatment that are geared towards creating that perfect hollywood cosmetic smile. It is possible to go for the very white and sparkling smile that may look more unnatural and unrealistic to natural teeth, but can often be very sought after. But if you are after the more natural perfect smile which doesn’t look as sparkly as the hollywood smile, this is also possible as well.

We always tend to opt for a more natural looks that suits your personality and overall look. Everyone is different and the treatments we offered will always be different and tailored to each individual. For example, the dental veneers we provide to a twenty year old patient will look different to a fifty year old patient (unless that is what the fifty year old patient is after). Designing the perfect smile is very much a two way process where the patient can and will have a lot of input on what they would like to see. Your treatment will not be completed until you are happy with how they look.

When having veneers it is important to understand that the amount you will need (for the ideal look), will vary depending on your mouth. If you have a very broad and big smile, then you will require more veneers to complete the smile. If you only veneer the front few teeth but miss the side teeth that also show when you smile, it can make the smile look very odd and draw attention away from your nice new veneers. Equally if you have a very narrow smile then you won’t need to have as many teeth veneered as they won’t show when you smile.

What Is The Process Of Getting Veneers?

Book your free consultation

If your not quite satisfied with the looks of your teeth and you are looking to cosmetically enhance your smile, then dental veneers may be an ideal option for you.

The first step is to book a free consultation so we can meet you and discuss what exactly you are trying to achieve. We will asses your case and explore the various options that may be suitable for you.

If you are indeed a suitable candidate for dental veneers we will book you for impressions. These impressions will be taken of your teeth and sent to a lab to make a diagnostic wax up. This will act as an example of how your teeth could look and will act as a discussion point to say what you like about them and what could be improved.

The next step is to make some temporary veneers that will act as a trial smile. This is so you can see what the final result will look before committing to having the final veneers made. These temporary veneers can be worn as a prototype so you can trial them out of the clinic to see if you are 100% happy with them. When you are certain these are the dental veneers for you, we can then move on to the final phases.

Before the final fit of the veneers you may require some tooth preparation to allow for your teeth to accept the veneers. The amount of tooth that will need to be prepared will vary from case to case and we will discuss this with you before going ahead.

The final fit is when your new veneers will be carefully bonded to your teeth, allowing you to leave with your new and beautiful smile.

Dental veneers are a treatment that falls under the cosmetic dentistry umbrella. They have been developed and designed to be used to improve the overall aesthetics of your teeth and smile. It can truly be a hollywood smile affect.

There are different types of veneers available and different labs have come up with new techniques to manufacture them, giving them a particular set of properties.

The main types of veneers fall into: composite veneers or porcelain veneers. The main difference being between these two, is the fact that porcelain is a much stronger and durable material than composite. The composite veneers are made out of the same material which is commonly used in white fillings and a composite build up.

Why Porcelain Over Composite?

Composite veneers can work out to be a much cheaper overall treatment than the porcelain counterparts. The smile will still look beautiful and will blend in with your smile, but the material is not as long lasting or as strong as the porcelains. Porcelain is a much stronger and durable material which as a result, can be made thinner than composites. This means there won’t be as much tooth preparation required (case dependant). To give you an accurate quote to have your teeth veneered, we will need to see you first for a free consultation so we can examine your needs and see how many teeth are required to be veneered, and which type of porcelain will suit you best.

How Many Veneers Do I Need?

This is a case dependant question. The reason being, is that there are a number of factors that need to be taken into account when planning your case. For example, how many teeth are shown when you smile. If you have a broad smile which shows off a lot of your teeth, you will need more veneers to ensure that they cover the full smile. If you don’t have enough to cover your smile, it can lead to a strange looking smile and defeat the overall objective you started out with of improving the aesthetics of the smile.
